Sharjah Ladies Club Announces Pink Hub Event on October 10-12

Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) in collaboration with the Pink Caravan is calling on women in the UAE to the upcoming Pink Hub event, which will take place at SLC over three days, scheduled from October 10 – 12, 2019, from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The event has been designed to coincide with the International Breast Cancer Month, to educate women about the importance of early detection and empower them to make healthier lifestyle choices.

The event will feature a comprehensive breast cancer awareness programme at the club’s facilities, and also witness participation of a host of exhibitors show casing lifestyle products. The event includes free breast screenings, mammogram checkups, and expert guidance on how to conduct proper self-examinations. Group activities will include fitness classes, awareness lectures and workshops, health and beauty talks by nutritionists, and more. In a positive environment, women will learn, offer their support to an important global cause, and be able to enjoy different activities with their children.

The Pink Caravan’s state-of-the-art Medical Mobile Clinic will be stationed at SLC throughout the first day of the event, with their team of medical experts offering these free breast check-ups, consultations and advise. A hair donation activity to support and celebrate breast cancer patients and survivors will take place at SLC’s Orchid Beauty Boutique.

Continued fun and entertainment will be offered at live cooking stations, which will be serving a variety of healthy dishes, accompanied by live music and exciting competitions whose winners will be offered attractive prizes. A part of the event proceeds will be donated to the Pink Caravan Ride – the UAE’s leading breast cancer awareness campaign, which travels the seven emirates, every year, raising awareness and offering free check-ups to the UAE’s citizens and residents.

Khawla Al Serkal, Director General, Sharjah Ladies Club, said: “As one of UAE’s leading institutions catering to women’s holistic development, SLC is committed to offer a platform of awareness and education on breast cancer, which continues to be at the top of all cancers detected in our country. This is why we organise several events every year, engaging our community’s women in informative talks, fitness activities, trying to keep them one step ahead of the disease. In organising Pink Hub in collaboration with Pink Caravan, our central objective is to encourage women across age groups to come and get themselves checked, learn about early symptoms and offer their support to an international cause in a vibrant, celebratory environment. Breast cancer is a very treatable condition if detected early. This is what we want women to know and act on. At the heart of a happy family are healthy and knowledgeable women. This event is part of SLC’s overarching objective to create a safe, healthy community in Sharjah and the UAE.”

Dr Sawsan Al Madhi, Director General at Friends of Cancer Patients, said: “Since inception Sharjah Ladies Club has been a great supporter to the Pink Caravan by organizing women targeted awareness events. The Breast Cancer Awareness month is meant to highlight the importance of breast screenings in detecting breast cancer as early as possible and increasing the chances of successfully managing and treating the disease. We would like to thank the Sharjah Ladies Club for taking up the cause of cancer detection and awareness by organising the Pink Hub. We are also happy to welcome any entity in the UAE that wish to support our message and mission through such initiatives where the Pink Caravan’s infrastructure and expertise can be utilised.”

Established in 1982, SLC is a subsidiary of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and is dedicated to facilitating leisure, cultural and educational activities for women and children. The club organizes an array of events that relate to society, art, health and charity with its activities including bazaars, exhibitions, sporting events and seminars.
