Indian man stabs wife to death in Dubai parking lot after heated argument

Dubai: An Indian mother of two was stabbed to death in daylight by her husband at the parking lot of her office in Dubai on Monday, police and family sources said on Tuesday. Tragedy struck the Keralite family of Vidhya Chandran, 40, a day before she was supposed to reach home for Onam celebrations, her brother Vinay Chandran told Gulf News.
 
Speaking from Kollam in Kerala, Vidhya’s elder brother said her husband Ugesh C.S. had been creating problems in his sister’s life and the couple were not in good terms for a long time. "She went to work abroad 15 months ago mainly to clear Rs1 million loan that he took on her property without her knowledge,” he claimed. According to him, Vidhya worked as a finance manager with Sunshine CNC Technical Works in Al Quoz while her two daughters studying in grade 10 and 11 stayed back with her parents.
 
“She had managed to pay Rs300,000 so far. She was supposed to come down for a few days’ holidays for Onam today.” However, it has become the saddest Onam in their lives. He said Vidhya’s young daughters, who had been waiting to see their mother, were not informed about her death yet. He said his family was not aware that Ugesh had come to the UAE on a visit visa. “Apparently he landed in Abu Dhabi and went to meet her. We never imagined he would do this to her.”Some of their relatives in Dubai are helping the family with the legal procedures to send her body.
 
Man suspected wife of cheating on him: police
According to an official in Dubai Police, the husband suspected that his wife was cheating on him by having an affair with another man. He lured her to a parking lot outside her work place before stabbing her to death and escaped. “During initial questioning, the suspect confessed of killing his wife because he suspected her behavior,” the official said. Command Room at Dubai Police received an emergency call on Monday morning about a woman stabbed to death at Al Quoz area.
 
A team of officers, forensics and crime scene department went to the parking area and launched an investigation. The police identified the wife and later apprehended the husband. “He confessed that he brought his wife from his home country and later discovered that she has illegal affair with another man. He wanted to exact revenge,” the official added. The suspect in his 40s, told officers, that he went to her workplace and called her to the parking area, according to official in Dubai police.
 
After a heated argument, he stabbed her with a knife and escaped. The suspect was charged with premediated murder and was referred to Dubai Public Prosecution.
